The Therapy Process

FAQs about our therapy process

We make getting started with therapy simple! A step by step guide is listed below.
01

BOOK A CONSULTATION

This 15-minute service is designed to allow you the opportunity to meet the therapist that you'll be working with, provide brief insight of the problem you're facing, and discuss your hopes for therapy. During that time, you can ask questions about the therapeutic process and share your goals for therapy.
02

COMPLETE NEW CLIENT PAPERWORK

After your consultation, you will receive new client forms to complete in order to begin our work together. Once your paperwork has been completed, our team will send a welcome packet and confirm your intake appointment date and time.
03

COMPLETE INTAKE SESSION

During your intake appointment, we will gather historical information and begin establishing your goals and curate a personalized treatment plan that aligns with your desired outcome. This session is where we lay the groundwork for the journey ahead.

We are located in Garland, Texas, and offer both virtual and in-person session options for clients. Our group therapy sessions are virtual only.

We serve clients who have trauma and PTSD, anxiety, identity issues, individuals navigating estrangement, couples seeking reconnection after infidelity, betrayal, and loss, and pre-marital couples. We also service families with family problems, blended families and those seeking co-parenting support after divorce. We offer services to clients of all identities, racial backgrounds, non-conforming individuals, and those of all spiritual backgrounds and beliefs. Our ideal client is ready to engage in counseling, prepared to do the work, and committed to consistently trusting the process.

Candace is gentle and affirming, and challenges clients when necessary. She believes in supporting clients by taking a collaborative, person-centered approach. She supports clients by building trust and rapport through non-forceful, non-judgmental guidance rooted in honesty, with your experience and personal truths in mind. A few of the specialty training that Candace has is in the Gottman model, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Attachment Based therapy, CBT, CFT, Narrative therapy, and Prepare and Enrich as well as marriage and family systems models that she implements as needed and based on the individual client's needs.

Candace has specialized clinical training and licensure as a Marriage and Family therapist, and graduated with distinction in this specialty. She knows that every client has differing needs and uses the first few sessions to determine the best fit. She has found that most clients work well with her culturally competent, person-centered approach. From there, she may infuse Attachment-Based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, the Gottman Method, Racial Trauma Therapy from the Kniffley Racial Trauma Approach, Narrative Therapy, or trauma-informed approaches, depending on the client's needs and goals. She uses Prepare and Enrich with most couples to support connection, awareness and insight.
